Vice President/Director of Education/Outreach – Clarisse Vamos
Clarisse is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as dual minors in Computer Science and Intelligent Robotic Systems. She is currently working in the themed entertainment field as an associate engineer for Universal Creative.
While at UCF, Clarisse was an active member of the collegiate SWE section and served in several officer positions. As Outreach Chair, she organized workshops and panels for middle school and high school girls promoting STEM education. As President, she led a diverse group of talented women in coordinating section events, represented the section to the public, and managed section strategic planning. Throughout her time with UCF SWE, she worked to build a partnership with the CECS Office of Diversity and Inclusion as well as other engineering organizations to continually promote the recruiting and retention of women and underrepresented groups in engineering.
Clarisse looks forward to continuing to serve SWE as an officer in the Central Florida section.
Candidate Statement:
I believe that I am a good candidate for the position of Vice President of Education/Outreach because not only do I have a passion for outreach and STEM advocacy, but I have experience planning outreach events and guiding them toward success as a former Outreach officer for the UCF SWE section. Additionally, I have experience applying for and successfully obtaining program development grants through SWE. I enjoy volunteering regularly at outreach events, and would love the opportunity to further advocate for STEM education in the role of VP of Education/Outreach for Central Florida SWE.
